The controls are X to aim and cancel, Z to accept and to interact, and Enter for pausing. Movement is with the arrow keys.

Feedback encouraged!! Thank you for playing my game!

Edit: Fixed some bugs relating to the controls.

Edit: Added the option to download as a .zip to make it compatible with xb360ce.

omfg this game is umm...

First off let me say I really like the call back to old school survival horror games in the combat system! Otherwise I thought it was brave to use a cutesy art style for a horror game but didn't find the game all that scary. Still for a gamejam game not bad at all.

Getting closer to the end! The lore just keeps getting interesting. Can't wait for the end!

I'm not really a huge horror game fan (mostly because every horror game out there uses the age old tactic of jumpscares >.>), but this was rather pleasant :) I also like the visibility mechanic it has going.

I also made a let's play. Definitely gonna play it some more!

I'm finding it a bit awkward to aim after fighting the leg boss, but that might just be me being bad at the game >< Still loving it.

Hate to spam this, but I'm continuing this as a series on my channel >.> This will be the only other part I post here with a video.

That said, here's part 2.

*Rawr* Hello everyone! I saw this game, it looked fun, and strangely reminded me of Animal Crossing - then it reminded me of oldschool Zelda, so I had to give it a try, it's definitely an interesting game that I'd think people should checkout. My only complaint is the developer said this is a 'short game'. Yet it took me 4 whole episodes to beat it! An hour isn't short for Indie-horror standards xD Short is like, 5-15 minutes.

*Rawr* Here is Part 2!

*Rawr* Here is Part 3!

*RAWR* Here is the final part! XD

For the first time in a long time I had a gaming experience that I loved. My motto has been: its not good unless it makes you exceedingly depressed and want to kill yourself. This game makes me feel maaaaaaaaaaan.

The aesthetic, overall mood, and artistic detail were mysterious and brooding. Exploration aspects are on super point and the combat is very bare bones in the most complimentary way for the most part. The BLOOD and BULLETS mechanic makes me really happy. However, resources are really easy to farm due to the bare bones combat system.

The characters and interactions are real dope and add soo much to the vibe. I would've loved to see more of them (as with the rest of the game as well). The world is far more expansive than anticipated and absorbs the player instantaneously. The exploration of the world and characters fit soundly together and make me wish for seconds and thirds.

Its good to know the survival/horror/animal crossing/shooter/pixel art genre is alive and well. I love the scene near the end where Lyre chugs the juice. Did not expect that! Rastek you a sex freak my friend, freak on please. Please. Please.

RE: third playthrough did a no kill run to see if there are different endings with no luck :( Are there any alternate endings???

I'm araid there's only the secret boss, as far as alternate endings go.

(Edited 1 time)

Cool! Does the secret boss refer to whats inside the walnut or something else? More playthroughs will ensue, also I've been showing this game to my peeps and they dig it too. Freak on man!

PS: the King fight is exploitable due to his projectiles not reaching to the back wall. The hand will come down 1 or 2 times but nothing else reaches in that spot. I don't know if these games get updated or not but let me know if you'd like the comment removed :)

Yes, the walnut is the only real secret in the game. Thank you for telling me about the king fight but I don't know if I'll fix it.

I have no idea what I was expecting when I downloaded the game. I looked at none of the screenshots, and took everything from the game artwork. This game just blew up what I expected and delivered something incredible. I haven't played the game all the way through (I'm doing a Let's Play series on my channel), but the things I have seen so far blew me away.

The atmosphere is mysterious, and the writing just the right amount of creepy and vague.

I'll be sure to complete this beast! Thanks so much for an amazing game!!!

This was much better than I was anticipating for a jam game. I think I'm about halfway through with just under an hour of gameplay (Governor's Mansion) but it's become a little difficult to continue on the 7 bullets and 2.5 Lts of blood the game gives you upon death. I'm not completely stuck, because you can sleep to reset the levels, then grind the first floor for a stack of blood and bullets, but having to do that in a game this size seems silly, and I already did it once to deal with bone bag.

I think resting should just refill your blood, with a bed on every floor (so no need to constantly return to the surface). Yes this busts the blood merchent, but maybe you can only use him once per rest? Either that, or have enemies drop a little more blood (especially larger enemies / bosses) since grinding the whole first floor gave me an additional 16ish bullets and 2 lts of blood. To max out my stats, I'd need to grind a few times and trade in all my excess bullets for what im lacking, which is a lot of work.

Basic enemies requiring 3 bullets, when the average room in the mansion gives you maybe 6 bullets, means the game falls out of whack quickly on the 3rd floor. You really need a more powerful pistol here, that can make short work of the starter mobs. The red walkers could still take 3, because they're more powerful, but getting a better weapon here could mean grinding is easier on upper levels, which means the game would become balanced again.

The slow descent into the pit is a cool concept and the characters are all cute and loveable, but it's a shame they don't have much more than one thing to say when you spend time with them. It's also unclear if spending time with them does much more than lay some exposition on you about what's going on, but it's too early to tell. A blood boost the first time you spend time with them after a rest would make tracking down all the npcs worthwhile.

Graphics are cool, not sure if the sprites are ripped or OC but I love them regardless. Movement can be a little dicey and sometimes diagonal aiming is sketchy/unresponsive. The bopping on the bunny's ears as they run is great, and the gunplay mechanics are fairly smooth. I did notice sometimes that you'd randomly shoot to the right for no reason, but I'm not sure how to replicate it yet so I'll let you know as I keep playing. The atmosphere works really well, and I love how the enemies fade outside of the light - but the effect wears off by the third floor when there's 3 enemies in every single room. I think instead of ramping the amount of mobs, it'd be better to ramp the difficulty of the mobs, that way I'm not wasting 3 bullets on every single one, another 4 on roadblocks and more on other creatures.

The warning for how many bullets you'll need per boss is a good idea. The sound design is decent. My only real let down on the game is, due to the size, I think it needs much more story to keep it interesting. Yes, they all sunk into the pit because they didn't want to face their responsibilities etc, yes I'm descending down to kill king dude, but there's no real development for our bunn (at least so far).

Overall though I'm really enjoying this so far and I'll try again later to finish it up (or now, maybeeeee). <3

I found a way to grind bullets a little quicker. Rest, go down into the pit (spider floor) and collect the 15 bullets here. Now return and rest, and repeat. It takes less than a minute per run. Once you have a lot of bullets, trade them to merchent to refill your blood, then refill your bullets by grinding the spider floor until you're ready to continue the game.

Just a follow up, I lost my save game completely after dying on the spider floor by ramming into a spider. The game states 'Save Game Not Found. Start New Game?'. It's a real bummer coz I was enjoying it, but I might come back to it later with the grind in mind and try to quickly make up the progress I lost.

This game was totally great! I thought it was a solid game, but I didn't come close to beating it?.. I'm not sure... ahaha, but I still gave it a go!!

This game was really cool and a lot more than I expected! I started a playthrough of it and can't wait to finish! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUJDVvIINlA
